EXTRA, EXTRA: AS PRIMEIRAS INICIATIVAS ESCOLARES CODOENSES POR MEIO DA IMPRENSA (1895-1908)

Abstract

The present work is part of the master's thesis of the first author and its main objective is to record the school education in Codoense through the press, identifying the first school initiatives and subjects that composed it, having as a time frame the year of the first number of newspaper found ( 1895) and the year in which he takes up a school chair, the first Codoense teacher graduated from Escola Normal (1908), becoming a milestone in Codoense history. In dialogue with the studies of the New Cultural History that adopt the press as a source and object of research, in particular, the newspaper - being considered a document - the interpretations and reflections presented here are the result of the re-reading and interpretation of headlines present in the “Monitor Codoense” newspapers and “Diário do Maranhão”, displayed in the digital collection of the Public Library Benedito Leite and in the Digital Library of the National Library, and fill a space in the bibliography still lacking in the municipality in question.
