Considerations about the disciplinary field of educational policies
Abstract
This is a theoretical and bibliographical study whose content presents some considerations about the production of knowledge in education policies. Initially, it seeks to situate the education policies in the context of public policy and discuss to what extent the educational policies wide area of coverage is also limiting regarding the production of knowledge and definition of investigative methods. Next, it presents a conceptual discussion of the epistemological field of research into educational policy and evaluation in education policy, and points out that despite the interrelation between them, each one has their own aims and different purposes. Finally, a theory about the allocation of knowledge production in educational policies is developed which leads to a discussion about the importance of the policy makers and executors to become aware of what kind of knowledge is produced to inform their decision-making.
