Combination of Prompt Gamma-ray Activation Analysis and Neutron Tomography
Abstract
Applications and progress of prompt gamma-ray neutron activation analysis (PGAA/PGNAA) were presented. PGAA was combined with neutron tomography (NT), which was used to reconstruct the 3D construction inside a sample and the neutron beam attenuation inside the sample could be estimated. Further more, neutron beam intensity at a specific position also could be evaluated by NT. The combination of PGAA and NT was able to analyse 3D distributions of elements inside samples without being disassembled. The PGAA-NT facilities were built at FRM Ⅱ and Budapest research reactor, which were applied to study astronomy and ancient samples. The PGAA-NT combination technique is being developed in China.
