Background and purpose: Peritonsillar abscess (PTA), which has a rapid onset and can cause life-threatening pharyngeal edema, is very rare in infants and there are only few reports in the literature. We report two cases of PTA in infants. Patients: The first patient was a 10-month-old boy and the second was an 11-month-old boy. For several days, they remained admitted in the intensive care unit and underwent incision and drainage and intratracheal intubation. Conclusion: PTA in infants requires careful airway management even if surgical drainage is performed successfully at an early stage.
