The current concern with body culture has definitely become the order of the day. Medicine is firmly ensconced in the belief that being overweigth is a health matter, whilst publicity constantly reminds us of body shape and aesthetic values. Therefore, based on medical journals, magazines, and under the normalization perspective in the place between the years 1920 - 1945, this research aims to outline the concepts in regard of corporeity and its representations enhanced by the theories of eugenies, the introduction of the nutrition science in Brazil, and by the idea that emerging modernity was also applicable to the body.
