AN ANALYSIS OF ISTANBUL HALK EKMEK WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

Abstract

Local governments are public institutions which are responsible for meeting the common needs of communities. Thus, social responsibility is a vital issue for local governments. As a result, the services of local governments are diversified due to the increasing demands and expectations. In terms of management, social responsibility policies are shaped by local management activities. In this context, public enterprises have been established with an approach of social municipal work. Our study examines in general the Istanbul Halk Ekmek A.Ş., which serves prioritizing social service. Within the framework of the examination, a qualitative research has been conducted benefiting from semi-structured question patterns as Carroll’s social responsibility model implies, and the findings were compared with the current knowledge in the existing literature and interpreted.
