This article focus es on the production of the so called special mora of the Japanese language spoken by Brazilian learners of Japanese from the point of view of bimoraicity as proposed by Bekku (1977) and Poser (1985, 1990). The data consist of excerpts of the Portuguese spoken by Japanese individuals, as well as the Japanese spoken by Brazilians. Moreover , the article shows that in the context of oral language teaching, the results of linguistic research must be re-interpreted in the light of a wider context and from the perspective of production in order for it to achieve its purpose.
