In the present article a topic of absolute actuality in Colombia is approached: the postconflict. The country has lived for six decades in an internal armed conflict where the Colombian State and the guerrillas of the extreme left were involved initially and later the right-wing paramilitary groups, the drug cartels and the criminal gangs. From the article this situation is approached with a gender perspective: part of the educational context of Higher Education addressing the relationship between the University and society; the role of women during the armed conflict and during the post-conflict is shown; Reflections on the need to move towards a school for citizenship are presented (seeing educational institutions as elements of social transformation that move towards democratic peace and gender equality and considering exercises of citizenship in the classroom for the construction of peace and equality.
