Brazilian rural production has accounted for a large part of its GDP and is considered one of the main commodity export players. The management of rural properties has been a subject of interest to producers, since technological issues have been attended. Therefore, the objective of this research was to validate a scale to assess the management style of Brazilian farmers. Management style was treated as the manifestation of the characteristics of managing the interaction between people and between people and the structure of one or a group of managers of a given organization. The factors leadership, decision, communication, control, planning and motivation were considered as components. Data were obtained using the survey technique. For semantic validation, the sentences were subjected to the pilot test of ten experienced judges in the management of agricultural organizations, eight of which were modified. Empirical validation was carried out with the application of the assessment instrument to 101 managers of rural properties, subsequently subjected to the tests of confirmatory factor analysis and one-dimensional exploratory factor analysis. The final solution for the instrument was composed of 22 sentences, distributed in six dimensions. The research limitations are relevant to the convenience sampling. The final instrument is indicated for application in the management of rural organizations, allowing the realization of organizational diagnosis, as it can also be used for scientific investigations.
