Campus carbon accounting based on emission coefficient method
Abstract
In order to quantitatively analyze the carbon emissions of universities and explore the characteristics and patterns of carbon emissions of campuses, the emission factor method was adopted to calculate carbon emissions of a university in a hot summer and cold winter region. First, the organizational boundaries of the school was set. Second, sources are identified, and classified according to the WRI reporting criteria, and the most appropriate carbon emission factors were selected for the sources. Finally, through field research, the activity data of relevant carbon emission sources were collected and calculated and analyzed to complete the campus carbon accounting. The results show that electricity consumption is a major contributor to campus carbon emissions, generating at least 83.43% of the total indirect carbon emissions, and that direct carbon emissions from gasoline and diesel consumption by transportation vehicles account for at most 0.67% of total carbon emissions and have an insignificant impact on campus carbon emissions. Greenery carbon sequestration offsets at least 30% of the total carbon emissions on campus, and it has a significant effect.
