International Conference “Ukraine and the United States: experience and prospects of cooperation” dedicated to the memory of Professor B. M. Gonchar

Abstract

The international conference on the Ukrainian-American bilateral relations took place in the Taras Shevcenko National University of Kyiv on March 17th – 18th, 2016. The event was dedicated to the loving memory of Professor Borys Gonchar, head of the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History of Foreign Countries Faculty of History). Therefore the conference was followed by the layouts and documents illustrating the professional path of the scholar. During the initial work of the conference, a series of speeches have been delivered. Among them, one should outline those made by cultural attaché of the embassy of the USA in Ukraine and head of the American Councils of Education. The following topics have been outlined within the framework of the conference: the history of Ukrainian-American relations, Ukrainian expat community of the USA, the American foreign policy, the contemporary American society and the issues of the American studies. In the end, the foundation of the scientific bulletin “American History and Politics” has been announced.
