Objective: Objectives: To investigate in children with febrile illness the correlation between Platelet Indices and C reactive protein (CRP) Methods: Descriptive study which included 400 children over one year admitted with febrile illness. Each of the platelet indices is compared with CRP to find out the correlation using Pearson correlation. By receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve the cut offs were found out. Results: Children with fever with high CRP had a significantly high platelet count (PT) and significant positive correlation with CRP (p value-0.003). Mean platelet volume (MPV) has significant negative correlation (p value 0.0001). MPV/PT ratio has significant negative correlation (p value 0.0001). Plateletocrit has significant positive correlation (p value 0.022). Platelet distribution width has weakly positive correlation. Conclusion: Platelet indices can be used as an acute phase reactant in febrile illness.
