Du chômage au plein-emploi : quelles solutions en France ?
Abstract
Unemployment, which is a key social, economic and political concern for many Europeans, has been reaching peaks that it had never witnessed in the past for any sustained period of time in France or Southern Europe. The causes of this situation are worth exploring. Different economic schools diverge in their explanations of this phenomenon and how to respond. Questions include whether the causes are economic, social (training) or political (an overgrown state) ; how to (re-)construct definitions of full employment ; and under what conditions this might be achieved from a workers, employers and state perspective. This controversy is debated here by three economists with very different starting positions : one neo-liberal ; one neo-Keynesian ; and one advocating another form of growth.
