Dinâmica Econômica Nordestina e Emprego Formal Industrial: O Caso dos Estados da Bahia e Ceará 2003/2013

This work has as objective to study the northeastern economic dynamics and is based upon the evolution of formal manufacturing employment in the states of Ceará and Bahia, during the period 2003 to 2013. The definition of these states as a case study is justified in a number of aspects such as: i) summarize the structural profile of all the regional economies; ii) it is the most dynamic economy Northeast, Bahia, and another that standard intermediate assume, Ceará and; iii) as a result, Bahia has the most integrated national industrial economy, and so much more diverse, while Ceará, although it has undergone considerable changes towards integration and diversification, still has a productive structure guided primarily in property Traditional. Secondary data from the Rais-MTE information database related to characterizing the industrial activity in these two economies as well as the profile of its workers. It was observed that the Bahia’s industrial activity, is more diversification in their sectors. The state has companies with the greatest number of employees. But the Ceará case presents a model guided by more traditional sectors such as textiles, food and beverages, as well as strong participation in the footwear industry. This occurs despite the latest move towards diversification branches as the case of expansion of industry Transport Material. Still, its industrial structure and the profile of the formal employment is predominantly ruled in more traditional sectors.
