Remembering a leading forest scientist: Ezio Magini

Abstract

He passed away twenty years ago, but the memory of Prof. Ezio Magini is alive in Italian forest scientists. He was a distinguished professor of Silviculture at the University of Florence, pionieer of quantitative Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding in Italy. Of high intellectual honesty and lovable personality, always willing to teach with patience to young people, he was a great example of methodological rigor, in terms of setting up clear hypotheses, sound experimental planning and data collection, in depth statistical analysis: a great guide for all of us.
