This article examines dystopian motifs in RicardoPiglia ́s work. Assertions on narration and powerare discussed in “Teoría del complot” and other essays by the author, also, police power and narration is analyzed in Los diarios de Emilio Renzi and La ciudad ausente. It is argued here that Piglia views both Latin American and Argentinian history in a dystopian light. This interpretation is visually and narrati-vely rooted in a tradition of dystopian novels and films, under analyzed in the studies about the Argentinian writer. With the recent publication of the diaries, and the posthumous appearan-ce of books of lectures and interviews by Piglia, this interpreta-tion line has become increasingly relevant.
