Analyzing the Spatial Data Management Optimization in the Defense Field with a Futures Studies Approach
Abstract
Research shows that over 80% of all data needed by organizations in various management and planning issues are inherently spatial or possess spatial character and nature. However, there are substantial problems with access, availability and usage of reliable, up-to date of spatial data in these systems. So, it is necessary to identify these problems to resolve them with future studies approach. In order to make better and more effective plans for the not-too-far future, the precise identification of these problems is crucial for overcoming these problems. This paper aims to address the identification of spatial data management in defense field with futures studies approach. In this regard, we have extracted forty problems in relation to availability, accessibility, applicability and usability of spatial data through interviews and literature study methods. The results show that the accessibility, applicability, availability and usability of spatial data had the maximum insufficiency respectively. The development of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) as a framework for the resolving current problems in optimum management of spatial data was explained. At the end, solutions were presented to optimize the Spatial Data Management in defense field in view of the 2025 vision.
