Botany is one of the major areas of biology; its study allows an understanding of the importance of plants for life on the planet and a greater awareness of environmental issues. Even so, students see it as uninteresting, discouraging, tedious and difficult. Numerous articles seek ways to solve teaching-learning problems and bring science closer to students, providing differentiated subsidies and methodologies to assist them in living in society and citizen participation. Therefore, this research aimed to carry out a bibliographic survey on Literacy and Scientific Initiation and its interrelationships with the teaching of Botany. Scientific Initiation brings students closer to science, to scientific practice, to their methods, questions, formulation of hypotheses, experiments and ideas. A scientifically literate person is better able to use scientific concepts in making responsible decisions that integrate values and to participate, proactively,in the society in which he lives.
