The Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment in Hospitals of Iran: A Meta-analysis

Background and Objective: Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment effects in increasing patient’s satisfaction and improving the performance of hospitals. This study aimed to identify a meta-analysis of the relationship between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment in Iran. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted using a meta-analysis. All published articles on relationship between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment in hospitals of Iran until 2017 were searched, collected and evaluated using seven electronic databases. Finally, 11 empirical studies were reviewed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software (v.2.2.064). Results: Finding showed that the effect size between job satisfaction and organizational commitment is equal to 0.442 that this effect has been evaluated in moderate level in terms of Cohen Interpretation System. Also, model with adjusting to groups and places as a moderating variable, effect size was evaluated 0.511 and 0.399 for employees and nurses, respectively. On the other hand, the effect size was analyzed 0.513 and 0.398 for Tehran and other centers which was significant in both levels (P<0.001). Conclusion: As the job satisfaction can influence on increasing employees' organizational commitment, managers and policy makers should pay more attention to effect factors on job satisfaction.
