The impact of the employment of generation Y on the human resource management
Abstract
Today's human resource managers face with a complex task of solving inter-generational problems of their employees. Working with the members of Generation Y is not easy. The young employees usually have different personal traits, value system and attitudes than the older generations, and the diversity is expressed at the work place, too. For employers and HR managers it is particularly important to know the characteristics of the youngest employees and their work-expectations, in order to provide appropriate working environment and successfully manage the incidental conflicts between the employees of different age-groups. The aim of this study is to show different characteristics of Generation Y, their expectations from work, and to point at those HRM activities, which can help attract and keep the talented young employees who need adequate care.
