The main task of preoperative preparation is to improve the results of surgical intervention and reduce the number of postoperative complications. Prolapse of pelvic organs and genital fistulas are key problems of modern pelvic surgery. The review includes data from foreign and domestic articles found in PubMed, published over the past 10 years. Based on the data of the world literature, modern trends in preoperative preparation of patients with prolapse of pelvic organs and genital fistulas are presented and analyzed. The possibilities of drug therapy in preoperative preparation are highlighted. It is shown that preoperative preparation allows performing reconstructive and plastic operations under optimal conditions and improves the results of surgical treatment. The doctors’ negligence to the preoperative preparation process can lead to an increase in the number of postoperative complications, an increased risk of recurrence of fistulas. This is particularly important for patients with radial urogenital and intestinal-vaginal fistulas.
