Nahum Epelbaum tends to the reinterpretation of the traditions of folk art and adheres to the modern trends while Nikolai Gabzulin draws his inspiration from the models which have become classical ones, adapting them for his style. Naum Epelbaum graduated from the Higher Industrial School of Fine Arts named after V. Mukhin in St. Petersburg in 1956, and the study years allowed him to work in the animalistic genre, which became significant for him, when he was experimenting and looking for new methods of expression. Nikolai Gabzulin graduated from the Republican Art School named after I. E. Repin from Chisinau. The elegance of his compositions dates back to the 18th – 19th centuries, adapted to the period of modern art.
