Application overview and development trend of passive radar in civil aviation

Abstract

The overall technology of passive radar and application overview in civil aviation are reviewed here, and the research history and status in this field are introduced. It is pointed out that the passive radar has huge application prospects in general aviation surveillance and drone surveillance of the airport terminal area. Then, the key technologies including system synchronisation, reference signal acquisition, weak target signal detection, and single-frequency network defuzzification are analysed. Finally, the development trends of passive radar are proposed to integrate into existing air traffic management systems, multi-band integration, and system networking, which indicates the research direction of this new radar system in civil aviation application.
