Situation of obesity and diabetes in Paraguay

Abstract

The National Survey of Risk Factors for Noncommunicable Diseases in 2011 gave these data: 9.7% of the adult population with Diabetes, 22.3% Obesity and the whole Obesity - Overweight: 57.6%. In the original towns 39.9%. In Paraguay, Law No. 5372/14 «Prevention and Comprehensive Care of Diabetes», includes everything from education in schools to coverage of comprehensive treatment of patients with Diabetes and Law No. 4959/13 "For the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and their harmful effects on health”, are key elements for policies on Diabetes and Obesity.
