International trade in wine and wine products is an important sector of the economy, and Romania and Bulgaria are among the main producing and exporting countries in the region. Thus, the analysis of foreign trade in wine and wine products in parallel between Romania and Bulgaria is particularly interesting and useful to understand the evolution and dynamics of this sector in the Balkan area. In this paper, data on trade in wine and wine products (6-digit classifications) that Romania and Bulgaria have achieved since joining the European Union will be extracted from international databases (Interational Trade Centre). The research also aims to determine the competitiveness of this sector for both countries, even in comparison with traditional Western countries.
