The scientific literature shows that the psychophysiological response to musical listening varies depending on different variables such as the tempo of the music, the mode, the musical style listening and the meaning of the lyrics. The objectives of the present research are, firstly, to determine whether the psychophysiological responses (Galvanic Skin Response-GSR, Alpha Brain Wave-ABW and Heart Rate-HR) vary depending on the musical listening vs. the silence condition. Secondly, to establish whether these responses vary accor- ding to the meaning of the lyrics listened (Christian Music vs. Non-Christian Music). Thirdly, to analyze whether the psychophysiological responses in musical listening differ according to the musical style heard. 100 students from the Adventist University of Colombia took part of the study, which were divi- ded into two groups: Experimental Group or Musical Listening (n = 50) and Control Group or Silence Condition (n = 50). The main results showed diffe- rences according to the mode of listening (music versus silence) in the three psychophysiological responses. In addition, differences were found conside- ring the meaning of the lyrics and the musical style listened. The need to conti- nue to deepen future studies that address different variables that may influence the psychophysiological response to musical listening is discussed.
