«2nd World Forum on lifelong learning», 22-23 July 2010, Shanghai, China
Abstract
The «2nd World Forum on lifelong learning» was held in Shanghai on 22 and 23 July 2010. The Forum was promoted by the Lifelong Learning World Committee and consisted of four sessions on the following themes: (1) Lifelong education: commitments and challenges; (2) Lifelong learning: which networks; (3) Learning cities and territories: «meilleure ville, meilleure vie»; (4) The learning company. The themes saw much debate among scholars and actors of lifelong learning policies of various scientific, cultural and ideal backgrounds. This led to establishing four goal-themes for the agenda of the «3rd World Forum», to be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, in 2012: (1) A more accurate and detailed conceptualisation of lifelong learning in order to devise more appropriate strategies; (2) Devising a platform for developing lifelong learning worldwide; (3) Strengthening the Forum’s internal communication and especially external communication with respect to the Furum itself; (4) Setting up a university lifelong learning network.
