Use of physicochemical and microbiological parameters as a tool in the implementation of an environmental education project in Cazumbá – São João da Barra , RJ
Abstract
Due to the demand for skilled labor, professionals have been attracted to the logistic port complex of Acu, EBX Group, increasing the population of São João da Barra, and resulting in greater use of water resources. This has generated more waste that can endanger groundwater and water quality. The aim of this study was to perform a diagnosis of the quality of the water consumed in Cazumbá and Sabonete, both in the 5th district of São João da Barra, RJ. Using data collected in the survey, an environmental education project was developed. This problem, common to local students, school and community, can be used as a starting point for a discussion on environment and health. By showing students analytical data on water consumed by them at school or home, the information can be used to discuss the issue within the public health sphere, as well as demand better water quality from public agencies.
