Graphene oxide is a new type of carbon nanomaterial, which has excellent characteristics, such as biocompatibility, chemical stability, high dispersion, large specific surface area, and rich oxygen containing functional groups. Graphene oxide, as a promising research field of nanomaterials, has received widespread attention and shown broad application prospects in many fields such as aerospace, medicine, new energy, and biosensors. In recent years, graphene oxide has also been widely concerned and applied in the field of modern agricultural technology, bringing new opportunities and challenges to the development of modern sustainable agriculture. This paper summarized the research progress of domestic and foreign scholars on the application of graphene oxide in the field of agriculture, including the effects of graphene oxide on crop growth and development (seed germination, branch and leaf growth, root growth), which improved the stress resistance, yield and quality of crops; To develop graphite oxide based fertilizers with slow and controlled release function, as well as improve fertilizer utilization and reduce environmental risks; It also can be used as pesticide carrier and synergist to prevent and control crop diseases and pests, so as to achieve the goal of slow release and efficient utilization; Graphene oxide as adsorbent or degradation bacteria fixative to achieve the remediation of contaminated soil is discussed, providing new technologies and methods for the remediation of contaminated soil; Graphene, as a highly sensitive humidity sensor, can realize real-time monitoring of soil moisture and non-destructive monitoring of plant growth. Finally, the future research direction of graphene oxide in the field of agriculture was discussed. At present, the application of graphene oxide technology in agriculture is still in the initial stage, and there is more work to be done to realize large-scale commercial application. With the deepening of research on graphene oxide in the agricultural field and the expansion of its application scope, it is expected to realize the transformation of agricultural production methods and technologies, realize the efficient utilization of resources, reduce environmental hazards caused by agricultural production, and help promote the development of green low-carbon agriculture.
