La fidelidad al espíritu de dos lenguas: las autotraducciones de Antoni Marí

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the self-translation strategies used by the Ibizan writer Antoni Marí, when he translated two of his narrative works into Spanish: El vas de plata / El vaso de plata and El camí de Vincennes / El camino de Vincennes. As will be seen, his ultimate goal as a self-translator is to be faithful to the "spirit" of the two languages he uses, in such a way that it is not detected that the Spanish versions come from an original in Catalan. In this article these changes are analyzed and attention is also paid to the study of the translation of the prose rhythm in the versions of the two texts, since rhythm is one of the manifestations of the «spirit» of languages.
