The ancient architectural elements preserved or reused in many monuments of the city of Tunis deserve to be cataloged and studied. This long-term and overdue investigation will perhaps shed light, once accomplished, on the thorny question of the provenance of a large number of these archaeological objects. Should they be considered as vestiges of ancient Tunes, or should we rather attribute them to other sites, such Carthage? This problem also arises for the inscription that is published here, engraved on a Corinthian capital reused in the Al-Kasr mosque, not far from Bab Mnara.
