Introduction: Among the various symptoms related to menopause are sleep disturbances, hot flashes, mood changes, and psychological changes related to depression and panic. Objective: To evaluate the effects of resistance training (RT) on climacteric symptoms. Methods: For this study, we chose sixteen sedentary postmenopausal women who were not using any kind of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or medications. Results: There was a reduction of climacteric symptoms in the training group (TG) compared with the control group (CG) for the parameters of insomnia in weeks 5, 6, 7, 8 and hot flashes in week 4, 6, 7 and 8, respectively. Conclusion: The RT decreased the intensity of the symptoms of insomnia and hot flashes in sedentary postmenopausal women.
