DC data loggers are widely employed in the battery testing system or PV generation system for collecting the data to evaluate the performance of the operating system or the battery performance. Without any assistance from the monitoring section, the system requires enormous data storage size, and it is difficult to process all information in short time. This paper proposes the method of multi-step sampling rate recording algorithm that can be used for dc data loggers by varying the sampling rate depending on the conditions of input parameters. It can detect the rate of change during the charging or discharging of the battery testing with simultaneously evaluated the battery condition from energy efficiency results. The hardware implementation by applying the proposed method with the lead–acid battery testing is performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. All collecting data can be displayed by using LabVIEW in the monitoring section to see the actual performance of the testing battery.
