Confesión, disciplina e interioridad en la España de la Contrarreforma: Teresa de Ávila (y las descalzas) frente al discernimiento espiritual de confesores y letrados

Abstract

The present work proposes to enter into the conflictive relationship established between the mental prayer practitioners and their confessors during the Spain of the Counter Reformation from the case of Teresa of Avila. At the same time a disciplinary relationship and a catalyst for sensations, Teresa's response will allow us to observe the complex subjectivity of the nun, impossible to be reduced to the mere result of purely disciplined power, or to a crystalline rational agency liberated from the representations of their own cultural universe.
