Çanakkale Savaşlarını Anlatan İlk Tiyatro Eseri: Yirmisekiz Kânunuevvel

Abstract

It cannot be claimed that our literature shows the necessary interest in historical events. Today even if it is attempted to compensate for this situation, works in the heat of the moment are significant in many ways. Much information as to how events described in their respective periods look and how these events are perceived by society is significant to assess both past and present. In works of this type, idea is ahead of art because in this time “consciousness” becomes the most important justification of a literary work. In this sense, we must give priority to such works reflecting their period, like the one penned by Mithat Cemal Yirmisekiz Kânunuevvel. Perhaps these works do not contribute to art but doubtlessly, they carry a lot of information to different aspects of life.
