Self-medication in pregnancy, double act of irresponsibility
Abstract
Self-care is a form used to maintain health, a special separate what constitutes self-medication, it is an irresponsible act, especially when it is performed during pregnancy, especially if it occurs in the early stages, when the possibility of damage is greater. Self-medication is a problem that is prevalent worldwide and pregnant women are a subpopulation of interest to pharmacovigilance because medicines administered to the mother can cause adverse reactions in her and in the newborn. To prevent the negative effects of self-medication should educate patients and the population in general, and to offer information and counseling on the appropriate use of medications; the tool to achieve this is prevention, therefore self-medication in pregnancy is a double act of irresponsibility.
