O conto em aula de língua inglesa: uma proposta e um breve relato
Abstract
This article aims to address some issues related to a teaching proposal prepared for a teaching training discipline taken as part of the English as a Foreign Language Degree course as well as link a brief report of its practice to that proposal. In this proposal, we chose to work with a specific area of English language teaching through the use of literary texts, in this case, the short story The curious case of Benjamin Button by Francis Scott Fitzgerald. Besides promoting reading and understanding of this literary text beyond the linguistic level, we sought to present aspects of the short story genre and establish relations between this work and the 2008 film named after it. Experiences with such a proposal highlight both the relevance of exploring more literary texts in foreign languages teaching classrooms as the need to enhance the levels of linguistic difficulty to second language students as part of the ongoing process of learning. Furthermore, proposals such as this create the ideal environment for the education of readers and give students the opportunity to experience literature and its enriching benefits.
