The aim of the research was to assess the effect of suplementation of sodium bicarbonate in feed rations on the concentration of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and Milk Urea Nitrogen (MUN) of lactating dairy cattle. The materials used were 12 lactating Friesian Holstein cattle in the 1th lactation period and the month lactation of 5 and 6th. The experiment used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The experimental treatmens were basal ration (T0), and basal ration supplemented with 0,8 % (T0) and 1 % (T2) of sodium bicarbonate, on a dry matter (DM) basis. The parameters determined were crude protein intake (CPI) and the concentration of BUN and MUN. The data were analyzed using variance the F-test. The result showed that the CPI, and the concentration of BUN and MUN were not affected by the treatments. The CPI were 2.097,43 ; 2.079,19 and 2.053,17 g/d. The concentration of BUN were 14,04 ; 13,05 and 12,75 mg/dl, whereas the concentration of MUN were 12,43 ; 10,01 and 10,07 mg/dl for T0, T1 dan T2 respectively. Overall, 0,8 and 1% of sodium bicarbonate supplementations into feed ration was not found to significantly alter the quantity of crude protein intake and the concentration of BUN and MUN in lactating dairy cattle in the present study.
