İşlevsel Edimbilim Yöntemiyle Dilsel Araçların İncelenmesi: bu, şu, o ve Dilin Gösterme Alanı

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the deixes bu, şu, o in Turkish within the framework of Functional Pragmatics developed by Echlich and Rehbein since 1970s. The theory of Functional Pragmatics is based on the premise that language as an exchange of mental processes between speaker and hearer. Languages analysis within this theory includes the description of phonetic and syntactic apparatuses used in the discourse and the analysis of the mental processes of the speaker and the hearer considering the linguistic elements used to mediate their exchange. This study will analyze the different pragmatic functions bu, şu, o in the deictic field, which is one of the five fields where linguistic elements are analyzed, claiming that deictic procedures in Turkish should be analyzed in a threefold system according to their functions within the domains of the speaker, the hearer, and the other party.
