The oneiric pact in Juan Goytisolo's Don Julián and Paisajes después de la batalla

Abstract

This paper offers a literature review of the critical reception of the oneiric element in Juan Goytisolo’s Don Julián and Paisajes después de la batalla. This review is the starting point for the textual analysis of the oneiric passages in both novels from Frédéric Canovas' theory of the oneiric pact. The goal is to formally delimit the proper scope of the literary dream in both texts, which allows us to reevaluate the critical literature positions on the subject.
