The creative thinking is ascertained to be a key psychological and pedagogical prerequisite for the development of competencies in the future. In the article the necessity of creative thinking developing of future workers in the sphere of education as a prerequisite for the development of the following competencies is substantiated: effective goalsetting, activation of self-generating motivation, acquiring of pedagogical communication skills, development of abilities for mediation while solving pedagogical conflicts, formation of personal image, prevention for the professional burnout, effective work with Internet sources, efficient selfimprovement activities. The results of the diagnostic stage of the study of celerity, flexibility, originality, development of creative thinking of future teachers are presented. The level of development of future professional activities is determined (prescribing, algorithmic, copying). The necessity to introduce innovative forms of training is justified for the development of creative thinking. The three-level model of D. Treffinger’s development includes: I – the development of speed, versatility, originality of thinking, memory, curiosity, self-confidence; II – the development of complex thinking and affective processes (analysis, synthesis, metaphoricity, analogies, fantasies, imagination); III – the inclusion of future teachers to the formation and solution of the real professional problems. It is found out: solving problems, closely related with the branch of interests in education, profession, business, provides more natural, easy motivation.
