Study of Magnetocaloric Properties and Refrigeration Performance for Batch Preparation La-Fe-Si based Magnetocaloric Materials

The magnetocaloric properties and refrigeration performance of batch preparation (La,Ce)(Fe,Mn,Si)13Hy magnetocaloric materials are studied in this paper. After heat treatment and hydrogenation, the curie temperature for M1, M2 and M3 is 292.9K, 287.8K and 283.9K, which decreases with Mn content increasing. The appearance of the inflection point in Arrott plots for three alloys implies the occurrence of itinerant electron metamagnetic transition. The maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change reaches up to 12.0 J/kg K for M2 under the magnetic field change of 2 T and the full width at half maxima is 11 K. The relative cooling capacity (RCP) is 110.2 J/kg, 132.0 J/kg and 110.0 J/kg for M1, M2 and M3, respectively. The adiabatic temperature change is measured using self-made devices under applied field of 1.5T. The maximum adiabatic temperature change is 3.48K、3.14K and 2.96K for for M1, M2 and M3, respectively. A 16.9K of the maximum refrigeration temperature span is obtained by cascading three alloys and measuring at ambient temperature of 295K.
