La « bonne aventure » par les Calons de São Paulo : entre tromperie, syncrétisme et efficacité
Abstract
In this article, I seek to examine the practice of fortune-telling among the Calon Romani in the state of São Paulo. My approach is to give an ethnographic description of interactions between the Calins (gypsy women) and “Brazilians”, in what I call the “frame” of palm reading, in which different world visions and a common syncretic imaginary are articulated simultaneously, producing meaning and affect.
