Otoyol Projelerinin Mekânsal Değişim ve Gelişim Üzerine Etkileri: Kuzey Marmara Otoyolu Sakarya Kesimi

Abstract

Transportation is one of the most important elements that provide physical and human change and transformation in the field where it is effective. Today, when globalization gains importance, the need for planned and integrated transportation systems has increased in order to ensure commercial and economic vitality from the local level to the national level. Northern Marmara Highway; It is an alternative highway project to the D100 Highway and TEM Highway, built by the private sector on the provinces of Istanbul, Kocaeli and Sakarya, which make a significant contribution to the country's economy. With the announcement of the project route in 2011, the effects of the highway began to be discussed and some effects began to be seen in the project area. In the study, the physical and human effects of the Northern Marmara Motorway on the Sakarya route and the spatial transformation were revealed by using a temporal scale (2011 - 2022) and interpreted by remote sensing and GIS method. Considering the results, striking results began to be seen in a short period of 11 years in the Sakarya section of the Northern Marmara Motorway. This shows that highway projects have a significant impact on the development and transformation of settlements.
