Bieber et al use intestinal monolayers derived from fresh murine crypts as a model system to study drug toxicity. Testing 48 oncology drugs with known gastrointestinal toxicity as a proof of concept, they discover differential responses in cells from large and small intestine, increasing our mechanistic understanding of intestinal drug toxicity.
