Pessoa transfictionnel: À propos de Não Sou Nada, scénario inédit de Luísa Costa Gomes
Abstract
Starting from the notion of transfictionality (SAINT-GELAIS, 2011), we propose to analyze Não Sou Nada, an unpublished screenplay by Luísa Costa Gomes, preparatory to Edgar Pêra’s film Não Sou Nada. The Nothingness Club (2023). Envisaged as a secondary fiction elaborated in reference to the primary fiction that constitutes Pessoa’s heteronymy, the screenplay is first analyzed in its narrative dimension, characterized by both spectacular deviations from the Pessoa universe and a number of diegetic bridges linking the two fictional worlds. Secondly, we establish how the writing of Não Sou Nada relies on a highly concerted work of borrowing, editing, and subversion from Pessoa’s textual material, which determines the intrinsically textual dimension of the transfictional relationship implemented by Luísa Costa Gomes.
