Relación entre esperanza de vida e ingreso. Un análisis para América Latina y el Caribe
Abstract
This paper aims to determine the incidence of general living conditions on average longevity for Latin America and Caribbean countries during the period 1970-2005, based on panel data econometrics. The results suggest a positive but decreasing effect of income on life expectancyand a positive impact of workers’ education on the population’s average longevity. These findings indicate that to induce a permanent increase in life expectancy resources assigned to the health care system should be complemented with improvements in social infrastructure and habitat.
