Abstract

This article investigates the sieges of the Citadel of Messina during the War of the Quadruple Alliance, focusing on the architectural and defensive characteristics of the Citadel. Special attention is given to the siege tactics employed by both sides during the sieges, highlighting the military strategies used in the context of the conflict. The analysis draws on various documents, including the capitulations of 1718 and 1719, which offer insights into the terms of surrender and the conditions imposed on the besieged.
