In this study, the water level and temperature in the Sepidrood reservoir were simulated using CE-QUAL-W2 software. The utilized data for the calibration of water level and temperature models were the in-situ data from 1/6/2005 to 9/4/2006. Sensitivity analysis was used for determination of the influenced parameters on the water level and temperature in the Sepidrood reservoir. The results showed that wind sheltering coefficient, shading coefficient and empirical coefficients in the wind speed function are the most important parameters, hence these parameters were calibrated in the calibration step. In the validation step, the data from 9/4/2006 to 8/10/2006 were utilized. The results of model validation showed that CE-QUAL-W2 can simulate the water level and temperature with 0.3 and 3.6 % error, respectively. The results imply that the model has appropriate performance for water level and temperature simulation. The results demonstrated that Sepidrood reservoir is a completely mixed reservoir. The influences of different parameters on the reservoir stratification were investigated. The results demonstrated that the high wind speed and low retention time are the main factors on complete mixing of Sepidrood reservoir. In addition, the air temperature and the position of reservoir withdraw have no significant effects on the reservoir stratification.
