Violence is a historical phenomenon that affects the entire society, which has been approached in the last decade from different perspectives. It is a problem of multifactorial and complex origin of great interest to the public discussion. Because of the global proportion that such issue has reached, new investigations have been established in order to detect ways to intervening in this scenario. Base on this, this research has worked out to analyze the scientific production in the school violence area, focusing on epidemiology. In order to do this, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out from the following electronic databases: Integrated Library System of University of São Paulo (USP) and CAPES (Theses and Dissertations Catalog and Journal Portal). When applying the descriptions "school violence" and "epidemiology", 818 studies were found, and, after analysis, 11 were associated with the theme. The results pointed out that the violence experienced and practiced by the students took on different sides, having victims and aggressors with different profiles. Among this types, the psychological, physical, sexual and bullying violence stood out. Furthermore, male predominates as aggressor and female as victim. It was evidenced that the family profile is a factor associated to the students’ behavior.
